Jam on, Service Designers!

2 Mar

It was a whirlwind weekend, with 48 hours of designing a new service and meeting new people! Thanks to all the participants who made the Global Service Jam a great success!

It was honestly good, clean fun. -Jeanette Leagh

What we did

On Friday

  • We met participants and had scrumptious pizza.
  • What is service design? Cameron Tomkinwise and Thomas Mueller provided expert advice and gave participants food for thought to start off their weekend.
  • At 7pm we discovered what the 2012 Global Service Jam theme was: hidden treasure! Participants opened their fortune cookies and found out what teams they were in.

On Saturday

  • This was the big work day! The Siegel+Gale offices were participants’ home base, where they worked and started crafting ideas. Many teams went outside into the Real World to conduct research, observe people and validate their ideas.
  • We connected with lots of other Global Service Jam teams during the weekend – we had a spontaneous skype meeting with the teams in Aberdeen, Scotland!

On Sunday

  • The teams worked hard to finalize their projects before the 3:00pm deadline.
  • We saw a wide range of creative ideas and creative presentations, including great movies, skits, and puppet shows!
  • Celebratory drinks at McManus! Cheers to a wonderful weekend.
